Milaca Couple Competes For ‘America’s Favorite Couple’ Title

America'sFavoriteCouple.org is looking for America's Favorite Couple in America.  Jeff Goldblum and his wife are hosting the contest. These Lovebirds from Milaca are in the running for America's Favorite Couple, and you can vote for them to make sure that central Minnesota gets on the map for this great love story.

There are many different categories of couples, but this Friday, they need to jump up to first place to continue in the contest. All of the 1st place winners of each category on Friday will all be competing for the top prize of $20,000.

MEET JIM AND RHONDA PASSOW

I had the opportunity to dig in a little deeper during an interview with Rhonda about how she and Jim have managed to stay together all this time. They've been together 39 years, and have been married for 37 years of that time. She said they always try to talk it out, or at least say something about what's bothering them before they go to bed at night. They might still go to bed mad, but they have respect for each other and believe in the importance of talking it out.

WHERE DID THIS LOVE STORY BEGIN?

Jim and Rhonda Passow met at a vocational school. It's the love story we all dream of. They spotted each other across the room. A look was all they needed to get their relationship started. They have now been together for 39 years. They both agree that laughter is very important.

When they were asked what their favorite memory was that they have shared as a couple, they both had the same answer. It was their wedding day.

When Rhonda and Jim were asked what they would do if they won the $20,000 grand prize, they said that they would like to take their honeymoon and do something with drag racing. They would like to take their trailer and truck down south to maybe Kentucky, Texas, or Tennessee, to go drag racing in different areas.

DRAG RACING LOVERS

Rhonda and Jim met in 1986.  Jim says he fell in love with Rhonda when she knew how to drive his 1975 Duster, which she thought was an awesome car.

Rhonda and Jim both have driven as Drag Racers, but she says she quit racing a few years ago, and now Jim does all the racing, but she is his pit crew. So they enjoy the hobby together. They change engines together and have fun. I love it!

WOULD YOU EVER CALL IT QUITS?

I asked Rhonda if there was ever a time they thought about calling it quits. Rhonda said, "I learned a long time ago to never go to bed without talking about it. There have been times where we've said, Let's take a break, maybe spend some time with our friends, but we always come back together. We are the only ones for each other."
