Pierz Car Enthusiast Passes Away, Leaving Behind Main Street Legacy
A local classic car event participant and organizer has passed away, leaving a car-sized hole in the Pierz car community. Mike Lucking passed away on Thursday, July 24, but an event he was passionate about will carry on, allowing family and friends to remember him fondly for not only his community pride but for his love of family and cars.
Rock, Roll, & Stroll Meant Alot
Mike was one of the guys in Pierz who helped to organize the Rock, Roll, and Stroll event that takes place throughout the summer in downtown Pierz. The event sees participants drive in some really beautiful machines, park them along Main Street, and then either sit near their machine, participate in the poker walk, or grab a bite to eat at one of the many bars/restaurants that dot the long main drag.
Enthusiastic About Cars & Family
Mike was my wife's uncle. I appreciated his passion for cars and his love for his family. He was always quick with a hello and was always good for a quick chat during the holidays.
One of my favorite vehicles was Mike's Nash Metropolitan, a real award winner that turned heads wherever he drove it.
That, of course, wasn't his only car that he liked to show; he had a few different ones, and you'd often catch him driving one in the Oktoberfest Parade the last few years.
Mike was a member of the Lone Eagle Auto Club, Hot Rod Hoodlums, Rock City Rods, and the Minnesota Street Rod Association, according to his online obituary.
If you see a line of cars this week, all shined up with fresh wax, it might be the procession leaving the church in Pierz.

Want To Attend The Pierz Rock, Roll, & Stroll?
One of Mike's annual events that he was passionate about was the Rock, Roll, and Stroll. It's a fun and laid-back time in downtown. Feel free to check it out for yourself this year, and remember the guy who helped organize it and make it a fixture of downtown Pierz in the summer months.
Rock, Roll, & Stroll takes place on the first Thursday of June, July, August, and September and go from 5-8pm. You can learn more about the event on their social media page.
