Married Minnesota TV Anchors Shamed for “Sitting Too Close” Together
In just 10 months, it seems everyone's brain has been hardwired to expect people to always be six feet apart.
Amelia Santaniello and her husband Frank Vascellaro have been hosting WCCO's nightly newscast together since 2006. But just because they have been behind the desk for over a decade, and it says they are married on the WCCO website, doesn't mean the average listener is aware of their marital status.
WCCO journalist Nick Streiff posted a message to Twitter this week sharing that he has been fielding questions about Amelia and Nick "sitting too close":
Luckily Amelia has been a good sport about it, sharing on Twitter that she keeps asking if she and her husband can be socially distanced. Frank confirmed that on his own Twitter as well.
Both Amelia and Frank are involved with the community and host charity events throughout the Twin Cities. Amelia has been named Best Newscaster in the Twin Cities multiple times, and Frank has won multiple Regional Emmys for Best Anchor.
Long story short, they are married and live in the same house, there is no need for them to be social distancing. I watch WCCO and they have been really good (from what I've seen) on keeping people as far apart from each other as they can and setting a good example for the general public.
