Make 'Minnesota Mystery Cookies'

So things will be different for awhile...One of those things is the number of times we make trips to the grocery store. So I decided to use what I have in my house as much as possible; including baking up some new ideas. This will be a fun one. MINNESOTA MYSTERY COOKIES

The basic recipe is simple. Heat your oven to 350. You'll need at least 2 un-greased cookie sheets for this recipe.

MUST HAVE INGREDIENTS

2 cups of all purpose flour
2 cups of granulated white sugar
2 eggs
2 sticks of butter
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp lemon juice
__________SECRET INGREDIENTS

Mix together your dry ingredients first, and then in a separate bowl, mix together your butter, sugar, lemon juice and vanilla. Pour the egg/butter/vanilla mixture into the dry mixture and mix well. Here comes the fun part.

THE SECRET INGREDIENT

Here's where you get creative. Find your secret ingredient. What do you have in your cupboards that needs to be used up? What flavors do you like in your cookies? If you find anything that is liquid, like flavoring, fruit, etc...add it to the wet mixture. If you find a dry ingredient, add it to the dry ingredients.

I found cloves and cinnamon. I added just a tsp of each. But think about it; it could be a variety of flavored chips? What about candy sprinkles? What about peanut butter? Jelly? Any kind of nuts? Maybe even some spices like cumin...Hey! No judging...These are YOUR cookies...and anything goes.

Add your secret ingredients. Typically 1 tsp for flavorings or spices, and if you have chips, sprinkles, or nuts, add what you like to make a hardy dough.

put into rounded teaspoonfuls on your cookies sheets, and bake for about 10 minutes.

Let cool before removing.
