Lorrie Morgan put on a fantastic show Saturday night for the Sauk Rapids Firefighter's Dance!

I've been a Lorrie fan since I was a kid so I was excited to find out she'd be performing in our backyard.  It was a beautiful night for an outdoor concert, there was a big crowd and the music was outstanding.

Lorrie performed many of her best hits including Five Minutes, Out of Your Shoes Tonight, Something In Red, A Picture of Me Without You and Good As I Was To You.  She also performed some new music off her and Pam Tillis' upcoming album Dos Divas.  She took requests throughout the show one of which was her duet with the late Keith Whitley, Till A Tear Becomes A Rose.  It was so beautiful it gave me goosebumps.

I don't judge concerts solely on the music, I take audience interaction into consideration.  I have seen some shows where the music is great but it lacks a real connection with the audience.  I think Lorrie's show was the perfect blend of both great music and a solid connection with the crowd.  She invited them to sing along with her on several occasions, stopped to pose for pictures and she gave people an insight in to her witty personality.

She said people could request songs during the show, all they had to do was attach a $100 bill to it.  She introduced the audience to her band and joked that some of them had been with her for far longer than any of her marriages had lasted.

She closed out the show with Journey's Faithfully and stuck around after the show for autographs.  It's refreshing to see that some artists still remember what's important.

I loved the music and the humor and I believe the audience appreciated it as well.  All in all, I think the show was awesome!!  I cannot wait for her new album and I hope she visits our area again soon!
