Look Up St. Cloud’s Crime With this Awesome ‘Community Crime Map’
Sometimes in my free time I like to listen to the police scanner. It's exciting to have a glass of wine on a Friday night and hear the action going down around town. I'm a nerd at heart, what can I say?
It's fun to be in the know...but, if you've got better things to do on your Friday evening than listening to the police scanner for hours, there's a really cool way for you to stay up on what's going down in your own backyard.
Lexis Nexis Risk Solutions has an interactive Community Crime Map that lets you see what kind of crimes have happened in your neighborhood.
All you need to do is select the area you want information about. You can choose the date range and bam--that's it! The map will display little icons that indicate the nature of the crime and where the crime happened. It's pretty neat.
When you click on the icon, it'll also give you the crime's description, exact date and time the incident happened, what street it occurred on as well as information about the responding police agency. Sometimes the icons are a little offset as to protect the victim's privacy.
There's a link for the public to also submit crime tips to law enforcement. You can also checkup on any known sex offenders in your area. It's a great resource to stay on top of what's happening in your area.
