With school starting up again, it makes perfect sense that September is Library Card Sign-Up Month. And let me tell you, a library card today is so much more than what most of us remember from the past. It’s not just about checking out books anymore; it’s like holding a key that unlocks a whole new world of learning, fun, and possibilities!

This year, the Great River Regional Library is using the theme “One Card, Endless Possibilities,” and honestly, I couldn’t agree more.

WHAT CAN THAT CARD DO FOR YOU?

So, what can you actually do with a library card? Well, here’s just a taste:

  • Borrow from nearly 1 million books in the GRRL system
  • Check out CDs and DVDs
  • Use one of their 250 public computers
  • Join in on free programs for all ages
  • Get help with information services
  • Listen to audiobooks
  • Access ebooks, magazines, newspapers, and more
  • Try out “Try It Yourself” kits (think telescopes, ukuleles, frisbee golf, and beyond!)
  • Join book clubs for kids, teens, or adults

And the best part? A library card is totally free—and signing up couldn’t be easier.

Beautiful Photos From Clemens Gardens

This weekend was a great one to get out and do something fun. I wanted to destress, so I drove over to Clemens Gardens for a nice stroll through the gardens. What a beautiful place it is. There are flowers everywhere, as well as fountains and statues. These photos only capture part of what's available to see, but in case you haven't had a chance to visit, now is a great time to view them, as everything is in full bloom. Take a look at some beautiful photos and then make a plan to take your own trip. All of your senses will thank you.
