Let Your Kids Experience The Super Pink Moon That Rises Tonight
IT'S THE FIRST FULL MOON OF THE YEAR
Lucky us! It's the first full moon of the season, and tonight, it is a Super Pink Moon. You can spend some time with the kids outside and teach them about Super Moons.
WHAT IS A SUPER PINK MOON ANYWAY!
What exactly does that mean? I'm thinking, cool! We get to see a great big pink moon that looks like it's sitting on planet earth as it rises.
Not exactly. According to space.com, tonight's moon should be big, beautiful and bright! It should also be the biggest super-moon of the year.
The moon tonight will be present around 9:35 pm, and supposedly, if it's not cloudy be visible most of the night. I'm pretty sure you'll get bored staring at it eventually, but all it really means is; you'll have a lot of time to teach your kids about what a super moon is, and why they are calling tonight's moon a Super Pink Moon.
IT'S NOT PINK...SORRY
Although the name is a little misleading, it's called a Super Pink Moon, because April full moons sometimes correspond with the blooming of pink flowers in North America. The Super part comes from the fact that the moon is going to be really close to the earth, and the moon, earth and the sun will all be aligned; making it look larger and brighter than normal.
