Kwik Trip Shines As The Top Gas Station In The Nation
There's one place that has become a part of our everyday life, more than most of us realize, and that's our gas stations.
USA Today has just put out their Readers' Choice '10Best' Awards for the best gas station brands across the US for 2026, and the Midwest is shining once again.
HOW WERE GAS STATIONS NOMINATED FOR '10BEST?'
The gas stations were nominated by an expert panel, and then they passed the torch on to the readers to make their final decisions on their favorites. Not only are we looking at fueling up anymore. We want fresh coffee, clean stocked bathrooms, and plenty of options for food, beverages, and even groceries.
Here are the gas stations that rose to the top.

10. CASEY'S
I'm happy to see that Casey's made the top 10. Casey's can be found all over the state of Minnesota. I've definitely noticed the major improvements that they have made over the past few years. Larger space, their own line of snacks and beverages, and, of course, probably my favorite reason for visiting Casey's, their amazing pizza. I have to say that their Cheese pizza, specifically, has to be my family's favorite pizza.
This chain is not featured in the Midwest, but if you are traveling to Utah to Pennsylvania, it might be the place to stop when you are traveling through the area. They have everything travelers could need, including travel mugs, clothing, and outdoor accessories. I think what people seemed to really appreciate about Sapp Bros. is that they have what they call 'quick-service' restaurants and also full-service cafes serving delicious food all day long. They have some signature items that include smoked burnt ends and their tasty chicken-fried steak. I might have to make a plan to stop by sometime.
8. ON CUE
Two states get to enjoy On Cue...that's Oklahoma and Texas. On Cue has covered those areas with 75 locations, and it seems that they have a pretty awesome rewards program that gives you opportunities to redeem points for breakfast tacos, beverages, and more.

7. RUTTER'S
Rutter's actually started as a dairy farm in 1921. The second generation of the family decided to start their convenience store brand, and now the third and fourth generation family members still run it today. Based out of York, Pennsylvania, Rutter's is said to have one of the most extensive food menu offerings of any of the gas stations listed here.
6. HY-VEE
Hy-Vee is an employee-owned company that provides high-quality, excellent customer service and healthy food options. You can find Hyvee's throughout the Midwest.
5. RACETRAC
You'll have to make a stop at RaceTrac the next time you head down south. They've actually been in business since 1934, and are another great location that offers affordable gas, a rewards program, great food offerings, and fresh-brewed coffee.
When you're visiting New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas, you might want to pop in to one of Allsup's 400 locations. They are a great location to fuel up, and they apparently have some pretty tasty beef and bean burritos!
3. QUIKTRIP/QT
QT started in 1958 with just one store in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but now has over 1100 locations across 22 states. QT was the first gas station to market self-serve fountain drinks. They are also supposed to have super-fast, friendly service, and tasty, crave-worthy made-to-order food items.
2. ROYAL FARMS
You won't find Royal Farms here in Minnesota, but if you travel to Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina, or Virginia and West Virginia, you are sure to find them. Their claim to fame? Great variety of high-quality fast food meals and snacks, as well as clean bathrooms, which we all can appreciate after driving across the country.
Are you surprised? I'm not. Even though Kwik Trip is a Wisconsin-based company, they feel like Minnesota Nice. They have over 850 stores across Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, South Dakota, and Illinois. We KNOW what we like. The bakeries that make more than 2 dozen different types of baked goods each day, their milk, butter, and other dairy products. We love their fresh salad options, the groceries, and of course, clean bathrooms, and their 'See you next time' attitudes. Kwik Trip employees are kind and thoughtful, and the fact that they share the company with their employees is another reason you just have to love Kwik Trip.
