LOOKING FOR THE PERFECT HOME

I've been planning on moving to St. Cloud within the next couple years, and it looks like it is going to be sooner rather than later!  If I can find a home. Both my boys will be attending a local college next year, my oldest son and I work in St. Cloud...so it seems like the time is NOW!

HOUSE SHOPPING ISN'T EASY

I've been searching for houses; and it's a lot harder to find the house of your dreams than one might think. Every time I think I find a house that's perfect for my family, it sells before I can even ask to look at it. What is the secret? Are people paying magic elves to hide on shelves all over central Minnesota to give them a call the moment a great place opens up?

THE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS

Then there's the negotiating. What is a house worth? How much can I afford? Do I have lofty dreams? Am I thinking too big? How long do I wait before I say...Okay...This is THE one.

I always bring my posse to help me check out possibilities. My father built his home and knows quality when he sees it. Mom has a great eye for decorating; and for seeing problems that might exist. She's great at helping me think about future costs; and how far out they might be.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR

Is this house well built? Does it have water damage? Is it private enough to have my dog run around in a backyard? Oh yeah! Does it have a fenced-in backyard?

HARDWOOD FLOORS, NICE KITCHEN, FENCED IN YARD

Welll...I'm calling on everyone who is selling a home. I'm looking for a 4 bedroom, 2 bath, fenced in backyard. I'm also looking for a place that my kids can catch a city bus to school, or be within walking distance of the tech college.  I LOVE hardwood floors, as I have 1 cat and 1 dog.  I would also like a basement; a quiet hangout for the boys' MANCAVE; and/or a great place for a small recording studio.  I also LOVE being in the kitchen. So a nice kitchen? Yep. It's gonna be a huge selling point.

AM I ASKING TOO MUCH?

Yes....I want a two car garage...Yes...I want a tree or two and a little bit of grass. At 52, I'll be purchasing my very own home, which is quite different than being married and buying a home with your significant other. It puts the straps on price; that's for sure. So making sure I can find a great home for my family in a safe neighborhood. I don't need over the top fancy...but I can't say that I wouldn't like a big bathroom and a walk-in closet. Hello! I'm a girl.
