Some extremely sad news was just announced by a popular zoo in Southeast Minnesota.  Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo are heartbroken after one of their well-known animals had to be euthanized.

Heartbreaking News From Popular Zoo in Olmsted County

My family loves going to Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo!  It is so family-friendly, especially for those with little kids.  The animals aren't too far away so it is almost guaranteed that you will catch a glimpse of them during your visit.

Unfortunately, one of the beloved animals had a medical emergency and had to be euthanized.

We are saddened to announce the passing of the Zollman Zoo’s Black Bear. She was humanely euthanized after the sudden onset of paralysis in her back legs. We are saddened by her loss, but know she lived a long life of almost 25 years at the Zollman Zoo. - Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo

 

25 amazing years at Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo means that this animal has truly touched a lot of families in Southeast Minnesota.  She will be truly missed by so many!

Wild Black Bear Sightings Happening Again in Minnesota!

Although it isn't quite the same setting as Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo, we are seeing more black bear sightings in the wild in Minnesota.  Several happened this past spring in Southeast Minnesota and another one was just spotted in the Brainerd, Minnesota area.  The bear appears to be getting in a quick snack before heading into the hibernation season.
