I’ll be the first to tell you that I’m not the most patient person. And that escalates when I’m in the car. For some reason, sitting in traffic drives me nuts.

With as much construction we have going on around the St. Cloud area, it’s been hard to miss this summer. I guess it’s true what they say, “progress doesn’t come without growing pains”.

Yesterday I didn’t bring my lunch to work, and decided I’d go grab something and bring it back to the office. I turned right out of our parking lot, and headed toward Highway 23 where I would turn left.

If you’re not familiar, that’s near where 23 and 10 cross paths and there’s a major project underway in that area to make the area safe and easier to get around.

Traffic backups have been an ongoing issue for a while, remember what I said about progress and growing pains.

As I approached the stop light, I noticed the traffic to my right was backed up because the construction work that was going on at the top of the hill there.

Just about that time, a tractor and trailer from a logistics company pulled into the intersection, blocking my lane and the two lanes to my right. We were stuck there because of this.

The truck could or should I say “should have seen” there was nowhere to go. He tried his best to inch closer to the car in front of him, but he was still completely in the intersection. Nowhere to go!

He nearly blocked the lane of traffic for folks who were turning left from 23 onto Lincoln Ave. They had to make a much wider turn because of this.

We sat through once complete cycle of the traffic light, and it turned out to be fine overall. But I’ve got an issue with people on the roads who make their situation more important than everyone else's and make decisions like this.

Again, I saw the truck pull into the intersection, the traffic in front of him was not moving and there was nowhere to go. If he didn't’ see that as he approached the intersection, he probably shouldn’t be driving a vehicle of that size.

I’ll end this rant with a simple famous phrase from Rodney King following the L.A. Riots back in the early 1990’s “can’t we all just get along”. We’ve all got somewhere to go, please don’t block other people’s lanes on the road because you can.

Beach Boys At The Ledge Amphitheater, 2024

The Beach Boys brought their Endless Summer Gold Tour to The Ledge Amphitheater in Waite Park in 2024 and brought John Stamos with them for the sold-out show. It was the 2nd time the group played at The Ledge. Check out these pictures of the concert.
