I Received My Stimulus Money Today

I've been hearing many different rumors about how long it's going to take to get your stimulus check. Naturally, I didn't think I'd get a check for weeks or months.

Here's how it worked for me.

Since my husband Dave and I filed our taxes jointly, his stimulus check also got put into my account, as well as the $500 we received for our son Charlie. So my payment this morning was $2,900.

Since I had already filed my 2018 and 2019 taxes with direct deposit, the money was just placed into my account automatically. I didn't have to do anything. That's it, that's all there was to it.

I've read that for some people it could take up to 20 weeks to receive a payment. If you've opted in for a paper check, that'll take longer than direct deposit.

Now my husband and I are busy planning how we're going to use that money locally. The goal is not to keep that money in your savings account. You should be spending that money with local businesses to give the economy a boost.
