
Huskies Fall to Denver in Frozen Faceoff Final
The #1 St. Cloud State Men's Hockey team (25-8-6) fell to the #4 University of Denver Pioneers (22-9-8) 4-1 Saturday night in the NCHC Frozen Faceoff title game at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
Denver scored early and the Huskies found themselves playing catch-up the rest of the night. The Pioneers led 2-0 at the end of the first period, and 3-0 after two. SCSU final scored in the third on a goal from Ryan Poehling (14), but Denver answered just over a minute later to make the score 4-1.
With the win, Denver gets the NCHC's automatic bid into NCAA tournament. The NCAA tournament committee will announce the entire 16-team field, dates, and locations later today.
