Minnesota just got some incredible exposure on a National scale.  Good Morning America just kicked off a new Summer series called "Main Street USA" where they're visiting different cities that are "keeping the American spirit alive".  The first city featured was right here in Minnesota, just 90 minutes outside of St. Cloud, in Stillwater.

It's been 21 years since Good Morning America last visited Stillwater. That time, Diane Sawyer and Charlie Gibson were broadcasting live. This time the three main hosts, Robin Roberts, Michael Strahan and George Stephanopoulos are not traveling for the series.  But ABC News correspondent  since 2012, Alex Perez handled the live broadcast. You may have seen him on "World News Tonight", "Nightline" and "20/20".

The Twin Cities Pioneer Press (may be pay wall) quoted Stillwater Mayor Ted Kozlowski:

"I like showing off our town. It’s a great chance to showcase downtown Stillwater. All of our business owners are putting up flags and spiffing their places up so we can show everyone how cool we are."

They surprised Sara Jespersen and highlighted the work she's done to bring art to Stillwater taking  an old non-descript alley and creating the new "Union Art Alley".  They also highlighted her work in creating a new snow sculpting event.  Mayor Ted Kozlowski awarded her a proclamation making July 3rd "Sara Jespersen Day" in Stillwater.

If you missed it in in real time this week, it's ok because you can still watch it on the link to the Good Morning America YouTube channel.
