History Rising From The Ashes Of Holdingford Mill After Fire
The day after Valentine's Day was a tough day for members of the Holdingford community. That's the day the Holdingford Mill went up in flames, bringing fire departments from around Central Minnesota to battle the fire, as well as residents, friends, and family of the Burg family to help clean up afterward. Since the fire on February 15th, some history has been rediscovered.
History Rising From The Ashes
According to the Holdingford Area Historical Society, since the fire, there have been some historical finds that link to the mill's 1800 roots.

The historical society has helped document not only the original mounts for the Grist Mill from the 1800s, but also a water return from the original water turbine.
From 1895 To 2026
The mill was originally built in 1895 and moved to its current location in 1910. The new mill location offered more space for a larger building, as well as something relatively new to the area: electricity.
Since its construction in 1910, the mill has meant a great deal to not only Holdingford but the surrounding area, as the mill has produced feed for animals as well as flour for Central Minnesotans. It was where local farmers could bring their grain, as well as connect with the community as a gathering spot throughout the years.
The mill was purchased by Jeff and Sue Burg in 2016.
What's Next For The Holdingford Mill?
The Burgs are going to rebuild, and once that is completed, which will be sometime in the future, Holdingford and the surrounding area can once again feel whole, after a part of the community was lost to fire roughly a month ago.
Until then, you can follow the Holdingford Mill, which is open for business, on social media.
