The National Weather Service says that we will see highs only in the 30s this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, plus our first look at snowflakes.

Below normal temperatures are expected to continue into mid October before moderating back toward normal for the third week of the month.

There is also increasing confidence that accumulating snow will fall somewhere across the Plains late this week and weekend, but shifts in the storm track are likely -- so stay tuned!

From the National Weather Service this morning: Accumulating snow is possible across the Plains and western Minnesota late this week and this weekend. However, some snowflakes are likely as far east as Wisconsin by Friday night. It is impossible to forecast accurate amounts this far out.

Pete Hanson is on 98.1 Minnesota's New Country weekday mornings from 5:30 to 10:00.
