Heavy Rainfall Could Lead to Early Week Flooding
The National Weather Service is warning that prolonged periods of heavy rainfall could lead to flooding across parts of Minnesota early this week.
A stalled frontal boundary will focus a corridor of nearly continuous rainfall, occasionally heavy, from Sunday night through early Wednesday.
Widespread rainfall amounts will range from 2 to 3 inches through Wednesday, but a corridor of 4 to 6 inches could set up somewhere across southern and eastern Minnesota into western and northern Wisconsin.
This rain will cause rises on rivers and streams and will likely lead to flooding in some areas, especially in the corridor of heaviest rainfall. In addition, lowland flooding may also occur as the ground quickly becomes saturated. Keep updated on the latest forecast for any future watches and warnings.
