ST. CLOUD (WJON News) -- The next phase in the renovation of a large industrial building on the east side of St. Cloud is complete.

The Harvester Square event center on the upper level of the former International Harvester building along East St. Germain Street is now ready to host large-scale events.

The 15,500 square-foot space can hold up to 600 people.

The old boiler unit that used to heat the massive building has been saved.  It isn't used anymore but it is a conversation piece as you enter and walk up the stairs to the second level.

Building owner Kevin Johnson says during the renovation process they found what he calls many hidden gems.  They were able to repurpose a lot of the materials into beautiful new pieces.

Some of the original brick was used to seamlessly create a brand new entry into the event center, the old exterior windows that were replaced are now featured as accent pieces in the interior.  And, some of the wood flooring is now new high-top tables and larger banquet tables..

The original hardwood floors and exposed ceiling remain and are featured throughout.

Another fun unique feature that has been saved will be found in the men's bathroom.  There's an original urinal they are calling "The Prince" because it's not quite as large as 'The King" that is in the upstairs men's bathroom at the Pioneer Place.

There is a main reception/ceremony area for weddings, with a separate space for a cocktail hour.

A new fireplace and bar area have been added as a couple of the new features.

The second floor of the building was originally used by International Harvester for part storage.

Harvester Square owner Tessa Johnson says there was also an area that they used for offices, which have been transformed into separate bride and groom suites.

She says they wanted the space to be able to accommodate everything from the ceremony to the reception, to the dance.

It is primarily designed for weddings, but they say they are booking a wide variety of events with interest, especially coming from corporations for things like employee appreciation, to Christmas parties.  Tessa Johnson says they offered discounts to parties who booked before construction completion.

Custom Catering will be the caterer for all events.  Tessa Johnson says they are also able to sell cocktails made with the Iron Street Distillery spirits, which of course is their fellow tenant in the large building.

There was a private event held in the space already, with the first-ever wedding on July 8th.

The entrance to Harvester Square is on the left side, they are adding a structure to create a more grand entry.  In between the two entries to the event center and the distillery concrete has been poured for a new outdoor patio, which they are hoping will be open by later this summer or early this fall.
