The Halloween hype seemed bigger than ever in my neighborhood this year. From giant inflatables, to spooky statues and wild light displays, it seemed like everyone was getting in on the spirit.

Every store you go to from July to November is stocked with candy, decorations, costumes and more. Let's face it: Halloween is now BIG business!

Once Halloween is over (or in some cases before Halloween has even happened), we quickly transition to... Christmas? Wait a second... what about Thanksgiving?

CHRISTMAS IN NOVEMBER?

Heck, even my own family already wants to put up the Christmas decorations. They are actually getting impatient with me on November 5th, asking when I will "finally" get the decorations up. What on Earth?

Have we collectively forgotten as a society how incredible Turkey Day is?! The football, hanging out with family, enjoying the final days before the bleak Minnesota winter fully sets in and, best of all, CALORIES DON'T COUNT.

Why aren't we blasting the neighborhood with giant turkey displays and decorations? Why aren't I being inundated with all kinds of gravy ads? WHY DOESN'T MY KID HAVE AN EXPENSIVE WISH LIST WHEN IT COMES TO THANKSGIVING?!

I think we all need to take a step back, take a deep breath and remember how great Thanksgiving is. Let the Christmas come to you, there's no need to force it!
