Choosing Thankfulness on the Hard Days
When life is going great, it's easy to be thankful for all the things we have. If we haven't suffered great losses, if we have the best job, food on the table, lots of friends and family. We have a job that we love. But what about those times when things are challenging?
Here are some tips on how to step back and take a look at all the things that you CAN be thankful for, even when times are difficult.
LIFE ISN'T ALL ABOUT PAYING THE BILLS
I feel ya. Worrying about getting all those bills paid is overwhelming at times. But let's remember these things. When you walk through that door, your pet is so happy to see your face. They can't wait to spend some time with you.

MAKING SOMEONE ELSE'S DAY
Sometimes it's easy to feel sorry for ourselves. We work and work and work. We ask ourselves, "Does everyone have to work like this?" Instead of getting stuck in your head, look around you. Can you text a friend today to let them know you're thinking about them? Can you thank the cashier for working on a holiday weekend? Can you smile at a stranger? Sometimes giving to others can help you feel better about your situation.

CELEBRATE THE SMALL WINS ONE AT A TIME
You're tired. Believe me, I get it. But did you get out of bed today? Did you go to work to provide for your family? Did you fold ONE load of laundry? You're doing well. Give yourself some credit.
LET YOURSELF FEEL IT ALL
This time of year, it's hard for me not to think about the people I've lost. But I'm also thankful for having them in my life and all the joy they brought to my life. My grandparents, my mother, I think of all they sacrificed for me so I could have a great life.
IF YOU'RE IN A DIFFICULT PLACE
I want you to know that holidays can feel very lonely at times, especially if you don't have family coming together for the holidays, and you might be spending time alone this year. Just remember, it's the little things in life that count. Life isn't perfect, but you are HERE. You Matter. Whether your Thanksgiving is super happy or melancholy this year, I'm thankful that you are here in this world.
