In May, we celebrated Mental Health Awareness Month, a month where we encourage people to understand that we all have mental health, and we all need to take care of our brains, as we do any other part of our body. We want to come together and end the stigma that Mental Health has had over the years.

I recently had the pleasure of speaking with siblings Mike and Deb Tenvoorde about their 3rd Annual 'Golf Fore Awareness' event that will be happening Monday, August 11th, 2025, at the Wapicada Golf Course in Sauk Rapids.

WHAT IS GOLF FORE AWARENESS ABOUT?

This 3rd annual golf tournament is held each year to raise funds that help support local resources that highlight the importance of mental health and primarily focus on suicide prevention.

The event is designed to be a fun celebration honoring the legacy of Deb's son, Eric Tenvoorde, and his mission to help others. Deb talks about her son's experience, struggling with opioid addiction, which ultimately led to his suicide in 2018.

Through your participation, you are helping the' Together with E.R.I.C. Foundation,' which stands for:

C - Create change in our community

THE EVENT

The Golf Fore Awareness event will take place on Monday, August 11th, 2025.  There are some amazing items available to bid on for the silent auction, but they are in need of more silent auction items, and they encourage teams of four to sign up for the tournament.

NOT A GOLFER? THAT'S OKAY!

If you are not a golfer, you are still welcome to come to the event. Maybe you just want to participate in the conversation. Maybe you have great ideas on how to end the stigma related to mental health awareness. Your thoughts and conversation are welcome.
