It's National Fried Chicken Day! There are lots of area restaurants that are taking part in celebrating our beloved fried chicken, and here's a list of the deals and where you can find them.
Use Taco John's App and get a free fried chicken taco.
Get a free chicken sandwich when you place a minimum $10 order online, or if you use Popeyes App, as long as it is your FIRST ever order. (This is an ongoing freebie).
If you flash your COVID-19 Vaccination card, you can get a 'buy one get on free' entrée, by saying Friends BOGO at the counter.
There may be other fried chicken deals out there, but these were the only ones I could find in our area.
WHERE DID FRIED CHICKEN START?
You may have a different answer to this question, but according to the National Day Calendar, deep fried chicken came to the US through Scottish Immigrants. They brought their chicken that they deep fried in fat to the southern United States.
The delicious chicken caught on in a hurry, and then different spices started being added to the tasty new discovery.
NOT EVERYONE CELEBRATES THE HOLIDAY
I thought it was interesting that Kentucky Fried Chicken, who is the probably the place you think of the most when you think fried chicken, is not one of the places celebrating today's national holiday.
