Garnett has been estranged from the franchise since 2016 due to a simmering dispute with former Wolves owner Glen Taylor. With the team under new leadership in Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lorre, KG is ready to return home to the place he spent 14 NBA seasons that were sandwiched by stops in Boston and Brooklyn.

“I can’t wait to come home,” said Garnett on the Timberwolves website. “Coming back for me is about what’s next. I’ve spent time with Marc and Alex, and you can feel the difference. The energy is real. The vision is real. They’re building something that lasts, with a team on the court that’s hungry to win. I’m excited to be back in the building with the fans. Minnesota, let’s go!”

April 12th's Fan Appreciation event will also include other former Timberwolves players, in-game experiences and giveaways and a special halftime performance by R&B singer Montell Jordan of "This is How We Do It" fame.

“Kevin Garnett has always represented the heart and intensity of this franchise,” said Timberwolves & Lynx Co‑Chairmen Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez on the Wolves' press release.  “The energy he generates is unmistakable, and welcoming him home to Target Center is a moment our fans have been eagerly anticipating.”
