These MN Pizzas Deserve Freezer Space
They say that when budgets get tight, people tend to stay home and eat in more than going out.
I've also read recently that the way you can tell people are struggling with money is by looking in their freezers. The one thing that you'll find more of is frozen pizza? Why Pizza?
IS PIZZA THE MINNESOTA COMFORT FOOD?
Pizza is a treat no matter what. So if going out to eat isn't going to happen anytime soon, a few inexpensive frozen pizzas are still a delicious option and make it feel like you're still having a good time. Things still feel 'normal.' The kids don't necessarily have to know that you're scraping for every last penny. When you throw a couple of pizzas on the table, with all their favorite toppings, you know that almost everyone is happy to dig in.
I believe in supporting local businesses, and that means local pizza makers, too. So I dug in a little bit, and found some of the great frozen pizza creators across Minnesota, and where you can find their delicious options.

WHO DOESN'T LOVE A SIX PACK?
Heggies Pizza out of Milaca, Minnesota, has become famous for its amazing Six-Pack. You've probably had a few when you were out bowling or playing trivia at your favorite local bar. But you can also now find Heggie's in the grocery store!
CHEESE ANYONE?
Bernatello's out of Maple Lake is the creator of Lotzza Motzza, famous for having cheese galore.
GOURMET LOVERS UNITE
Bernatello's also created a more 'upscale' pizza, if you will. It's called Bellatoria, and offers Italian-inspired flavors and incredible ultra-thin crusts. You can find them at Cub Foods, Lunds & Byerlys, and more.
HARRY'S PIZZA
Don't forget the family-owned business of Harry's Pizza in El Rosa, Minnesota. Harry's is popular for their specialty pizza, including their Big 4 Meat, Chicken Bacon Ranch, Chicken Alfredo, and Buffalo Chicken pizzas. Bring it on. Harry's is actively working on finding more outlets to showcase their signature crust pizzas, and you can find them in some local convenience stores and local food markets, otherwise, they are available at bars and bowling alleys. I tried them at Spunky's Bar in Avon. Delicious!
HOUSE OF PIZZA SAYS BRING HOME THE FLAVS
House of Pizza, based in St. Cloud, Minnesota, has some of its favorite pizzas available to purchase online. Their famous original recipe is just as good as a frozen favorite as it is in the restaurant.
RED'S AVAILABLE IN SQUARES
Red's Savoy Pizza is based in St. Paul and is cut into squares just like what they have available in their restaurants. You can find them in locations around the Twin Cities area.
SMALLER PIZZA MAKERS IN MINNESOTA
Some smaller companies based in Minnesota include Giovanni's Frozen Pizza out of Brainerd, available mostly in northern and central Minnesota, and Chanticlear Frozen Pizza, also based out of the Twin Cities area, mostly available in grocery stores around the metro area as well as online.
