Former Vikings Quarterback Diagnosed with Dementia
Yesterday we learned that former Packers/Vikings/Jets quarterback Bret Favre has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. When that happened, it prompted another former Vikings Quarterback to come forward with his own diagnosis.
Tommy Kramer, who played with the Vikings from 1977 through 1989, then finished his career with the New Orleans (cheating) Saints in 1990. By the way, I say the "cheating" Saints because I can't let go of 2009.
When Bret Favre came out with his diagnosis earlier this week, Kramer said he thought it only fair that he let everyone know what is going on with his health as well. Mostly to bring awareness to the NFL, and the issues that can happen later in life from the years of playing, and getting hit continuously.
Tommy Kramer took to X (formerly Twitter) to give this announcement.
Kramer does mention in the post that financially he is fine, but there are some players/former players that aren't as secure. And the NFL is only going to help with what insurance will not cover. He added that he is trying to bring awareness to the NFL regarding illnesses and what COULD happen in the future, and try to take steps to lessen that possibility.
