Gangster stories fascinate me, and there are plenty of stories of some very famous gangsters who spent time right here in Minnesota.

So why was St. Paul known as a crooks haven? In a word- corruption. In exchange for tip-offs about raids, the gangsters agreed to check in with the police whenever they were in town. And of course, the cops got a piece of the dough.

Notorious criminals who spent a good amount of time in Minnesota include John Dillinger, Al "Scarface" Capone, Bonnie and Clyde, And Ma Barker and her clan.

One of these days I'm going to take the  St.Paul Gangster Tour that gives you more of the history.
