Do you love to sing?

You don't have to be a professional singer; you don't have to read music, and you don't even have to be part of a choir to join in the fun this Saturday in Sauk Rapids.

The inaugural "Sing As You Are" event is inviting people from throughout Central Minnesota to come together for an afternoon of singing, music, and community.

The event will be held Saturday, October 3rd, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Sauk Rapids High School Performing Arts Center.

The best part is: there is no concert at the end, and there is no pressure to perform! It's simply an opportunity for people who love to sing to get together and sing their hearts out!

DESIGNED FOR FUN

Anne McCarney, Sing As You Are Co-Chair and Minnesota Center Chorale Board Member, recently joined us on WJON and said the idea is to bring people together from all walks of life to enjoy music and connect.

Maybe you've always wanted to sing in a choir but don't have time for a weekly commitment. Maybe the thought of auditions has kept you away, or maybe you used to sing with a group and would love to get back to it. If any of those descriptions describe how you feel right now, "Sing As You Are" is designed for you.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN 'SING AS YOU ARE'

People ages 14 and older are welcome to attend this event, and you don't need to know how to read music. Whether you sing regularly or haven't sung with a group in years, this exciting, fun event is for you.

THE DAY'S EVENTS

The afternoon will include:

Musical activities
Movement
Llistening
Plenty of singing under the direction of guest conductor and clinician Dr. Nicole Mattfeld.

Organizers say the goal is to bring together people of different generations, backgrounds, and communities and experience the energy that comes from making music together.

FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES?

There may even be opportunities for Christmas caroling down the road, including a possible family version of the group. Just think...by just taking this one step towards something you love, it could turn into something so much bigger for you down the road.
