THE GHOST IN THE COFFEE CAN

Do you have a 'real-life' ghost story? I have some odd things that happened to me after my dog Sampson passed away,  and I sometimes think that my Mom visits me in the Fairy Gardens on my front porch; but what might be more interesting is the ghost story my son could tell you, about a ghost we captured in a Folger's Coffee Can in Kentucky.

My oldest son freaked me out when I found him talking to a ghost in his room. My son was 3 or 4 at the time and told me that the ghost's name was Elliot Johnson. But how we helped Elliot get out of our house is a whole different story.

We were living in rural Kentucky. I can't remember when he first mentioned the ghost to me, but I remember being in his bedroom and him telling me that a ghost was standing in his room. I asked where, and he pointed to a specific spot. I asked my son all kinds of questions about the ghost; was it a bad ghost? A mad ghost? He said that the ghost was a sad ghost; it sounded like his family was gone and he wanted to see them again. He went on and on about this for quite some time. That's when he told me his name was Elliot Johnson.

THE PLAN TO CAPTURE ELLIOT

I told my Mom about it and she said we should capture Drew's ghost and set him free in their barn in Minnesota. Then he can fly all over and be happy.

So Mom had to think of how we could capture a ghost and came up with a plan.

She sent us a Folgers Coffee can to trap it in. I believe there was a balloon inside the can that was attracting the ghost or something. and some kind of way to lock the can.  Anyway...We put the can in the hallway, and for some reason we thought the ghost would be attracted to the balloon inside the can.

As Drew was crouched down in the hallway looking at the can, I gently blew on the back of his head, and he promptly put the lid on the can. He was absolutely freaked out and convinced that Elliot blew by him and jumped in the can.

FOLGERS CAN IN THE MAIL

We literally took the can to the post office and mailed it back to Grandma and Grandpa in Princeton to release in the barn.

As far as I know, we never heard from Elliot Johnson again. I sure hope he found freedom in our barn.
