Can An Engagement Ring Serve As A Christmas Or Birthday Gift?

This morning on the 98 Country Morning Show, 100% of the conversation between Pete, Cindy, and the rest of 98 Nation was around whether or not it's appropriate for a guy to give an engagement ring as a gift on Christmas or a birthday. Cindy says, 'no,'  and Pete was shocked.

Cindy (and most of the female callers) felt strongly that an engagement ring is not a 'gift.' I (and most of the men) was dumbfounded, and had never heard such a thing. Pay attention guys, this seems to a big deal to women. As Dr, Phil says, "Do you want to be happy, or do you want to be right?"
