For what seems like forever, there is a tradition of heading out to do Christmas shopping the day after Thanksgiving, otherwise knows as Black Friday.  The idea being that sales would be so good that it would put retailers into the black.

Stores used to all open at some very early crazy hour like 5am or something.  And there would be hoards of people coming in to shop and get the best door-buster deals.  Deals that would only be available until a certain time in the morning which would drive very early shopping.

THINGS ABOUT BLACK FRIDAY HAVE CHANGED A BIT

We don't necessarily have that rush in the morning as much as we used to.  People still are going out to shop, mostly because of tradition.  But there is also so much online shopping and deals that come along with that online comfort of your own home shopping.  Shop in your PJs and who cares?  No one sees you.

SOME RETAILERS HAVE INCENTIVES TO ENTICE EARLY SHOPPERS

This is still a thing.  Getting out early and shopping and taking advantage of the Black Friday only deals, and if you are one of the first people to walk in the door, you might get a bonus.  Here are some of those places, and also what's open when on Friday the 28th.

FLEET FARM - OPENS AT 5AM

Be among the first 500 customers at your Fleet Farm store on Black Friday and you will get a free plush mouse.

JCPENNEY - OPENS AT 5AM

JCPenney has staggered deals and free stuff.

CROSSROADS MALL - Opens at 8am on Black Friday, but some stores can choose to be open earlier.

MALL OF AMERICA OPENS EARLY WITH A HUGE INCENTIVE

The season shines brightest when we kick it off together! Black Friday is back—and we’re bringing the fun for everyone starting bright and early November 28 with our Black Friday Mystery Cards!* Every card’s a winner, with thousands of prizes worth up to $599.

Be at the North Entrance before they open at 7am.  If you are one of the first ones through the door - you will get one of the mystery cards mentioned above.  They will go as long as supplies last.  Then, you do need to redeem the card by 10am.  Just keep that in mind.

If you are one of the first 200 people through the door at the North Entrance on Black Friday, you will receive even MORE PRIZES.  So it's definitely worth it to possibly stay in the Twin Cities Thursday night - or just leave SUPER EARLY on Friday morning to get in line.  Last year there were really a lot of people lined up on Black Friday.  Let the fun begin!
