Most people consider summer over, but there’s still an opportunity to celebrate living in Central Minnesota this weekend in Osakis.

It’s the “Taste of Osakis” happening Friday and Saturday. The Town will hold the 5th annual event where they eat, drink and celebrate with shopping, fun and music.

On Friday night, professional bull riding and mutton busting will be in town to get everything started. The bull riding event will take place at Panther Distillery, the gates will open at 4pm and action will get started at 6:30. Kids 5 and under will get in free.

Then on Saturday, festivities are planned all day long. Things get started at 10am on Saturday morning with the Hot Rod Car Show.

Also starting at 10, there will be over 100 food and craft vendors will be lined up in the streets. While you’re shopping, the kids can wear themselves out in the bounce houses that will be set up.

The kids can catch their breath while they can get their face painted. In addition to the activities for the kids, there will be U.S. Army activities, and a mechanical bull. At 11am, there will be a live Chainsaw Carving demonstration.

If you like to compete, the O-Town Bean Bag tournament will take place.

Then at 2pm, the kids pedal pull will take place. Sounds like a really good chance for you to take your kids home Saturday night with them being exhausted.

I mentioned live music, and that fills the streets Saturday afternoon and evening. The gates will open at 4pm, and music starts on the side stage at 4:15 with the band Wasted Time. They’ll be back playing at 10:30 as well.

At 5:30 on the main stage, Rafe Carlson kicks off the evening, followed by National Recording Artists Lanco at 7:15 and Tyler Farr at 9.

Tickets are being sold for the Bull Riding on Friday and the Concerts on Saturday; they can be bought here.

The weather for the weekend looks nice at this point, with daytime highs in the upper 60’s and the lows will be getting down into 40’s.
