Are You Sure You Are Registered To Vote?
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock somewhere, it’s been hard not to notice that we’ve got a fairly contentious election for President of the United States coming up on November 5th.
There are some undecided voters out there who are trying to use the remaining time leading up to the election to decide which person’s name they’ll choose.
It dawned on me yesterday, this will be my first time voting since moving to Minnesota last year, and I wasn’t sure where I would need to go to vote.
I called the Stearns County Election Department to find out. Nikki answered my call and was very helpful. First, she asked if was planning on voting on Election Day or absentee early voting, which is something that honestly I hadn’t thought about to that point.
I asked her if she could give me the information on both and my wife and I would make a decision soon.
In Stearns County for early voting, there are two locations; at the St. Cloud Municipal Building near Lake George, and in Waite Park at the St. Cloud Services Building.
Nikki also gave me the location that we would need to go to if we decided to vote on November 5th.
After I hung up the phone, I started thinking that I needed to confirm that I am registered to vote. I went to vote.gov, and there was a link that was easy to navigate and within just a moment, well, actually a couple of minutes because I’m a terrible typist, I confirmed I was indeed all ready to go.
If you aren’t sure about whether or not you are registered, check the website out, it’s easy. And if you’re not registered but want to be, there’s also a link to do that as well on the site.
The deadline to register is Tuesday October 15th. You’ve still got time, but you don’t want to wait much longer.
There’s no doubt the outcome of this election will be pivotal to our future. Voting is a right that many people have died to ensure we have, so please, register and let your voice be heard.
As I was once told, you can’t complain if you don’t vote.
