American Idol has been going on since 2002 when Kelly Clarkson became the very first American Idol.  She has had an unreal journey since winning that title that not only includes music (obviously) but she also appears regularly on a podcast (doesn't everyone) and hosts a daytime talk show, she has done a lot of philanthropathy work and also she has turned the tables and has been a coach on another singing competition show - The Voice.

There have been several other American Idol winners since then, as well as some of the runner ups that have gone on to have great musical careers and some on Broadway as well.  Some of them haven't really done much of anything, it's hard to believe that we are now in the 24th season of the show, and we could have a winner who is from Minnesota.

MINNESOTA NATIVE MAKES IT INTO THE FINAL ROUNDS OF AMERICAN IDOL

Chris Tungseth did his audition like everyone else, and has made it through round after round, and is now in the portion of the show where America finally gets to vote.  And he continues to make it through.

WHEN CAN YOU WATCH AMERICAN IDOL AND SEE TUNGSETH'S JOURNEY

This week, the show airs on Monday nights on NBC and the next day on the Peacock streaming network, the judges, Carrie Underwood (winner 2005), Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, each picked a song from the 90s for the Idols to sing.  They didn't know who picked what, but they each chose one song to perform.  Tungseth chose "I'll Be" by Edwin McCain.  Honestly, he's so young that was the only one he knew, and he said he loves the song and sings it all of the time in the car.  Seemed like it was meant to be.

He knocked it out of the park.

I'm thinking it would be pretty cool to have him win American Idol this year.  And if he does, to see him have an amazing career afterwards.
