THE PURSE HAS BEEN RAISED

The purse has been at two million dollars since 2005, and one million before that from 1996-2004.

It will be divided among the top five places, but beyond that, there's not much in it for anyone else. The winner gets 1.86 million. The runner up gets $600,000; Third place gets $300,000; fourth place gets $150,000, and fifth place gets $90,000.

The remaining jockeys that are outside the top five get only a couple hundred bucks a piece. Ouch.

THE FAVORITES HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED

  • Omaha Beach: Odds 4 to 1
  • Game Winner: Odds 5 to 1
  • Improbable: Odds 6 to 1
  • Roadster: Odds 6 to 1

CHURCHILL DOWNS IN LOUISVILLE KENTUCKY

The Kentucky Derby has been held at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky; the exact same location since 1875 when Aristides won the race; making it the longest continuously running sports event.

MAKE YOUR BETS NOW

This exciting two minute race is drawn out just like Superbowl Sunday into a full day of other races, and television broadcasts of famous people, Derby hats, derby drinks and fun.

This year rain is in the forecast, which always makes it a super sloppy track and makes me nervous for the horses. I worry about them slipping and sliding. I can't stand to see a horse get hurt.

It really is an amazing two minutes. I hope you tune in, and get hooked just like me. PLACE YOUR BETS HERE!
