MINNESOTA TEMPS: YOU JUST NEVER KNOW

Here in the land of 10,000 lakes, we never know what we're going to get when it comes to temps in the fall.  Today could be 84, and tonight could be 34.

Well...that day has come. Our highs today will be reaching up to only about 49 degrees..and tonight we could see our first sign of frost with a low around 37. Should you be concerned about covering your plants tonight?

PROTECTING YOUR FLOWERS AND GARDEN PLANTS

For you pro gardeners, and yard experts, you may not need any advice. You're used to the temps and have been taking care of your plants for years; but for those of you who might be new homeowners, first time gardeners, or have never really experienced a Minnesota fall, then these tips might be beneficial.

TIPS FOR FROST PREVENTION

Although 32 is the magic number, we might hit 37...but we just might get colder, right? You never really know. Better safe than sorry.

  • Bring potted plants indoors
  • Wrap fruit trees
  • Water before a frost
  • Warm plants with water jugs
  • Cover plants before nightfall
