If you get down to the core of America, one of the things that keeps our country moving is the Trucking Industry. Truckers move the goods we use around the clock because it’s their job. A job they take a large amount of pride in.

Truckers have proven time and time again they can be counted on when times get tough or when a need presents itself.

Saturday will be another one of these occasions when truckers are stepping up to help out in the 20th anniversary Truck Convoy for Special Olympics.

This year, the hope is that this event will raise $20,000 to help support the cause of the Special Olympics in Minnesota.

The convoy will feature around 100 trucks who will ban together and make a 25-mile trek from the Running Aces Hotel along I-35 to Stacy before returning to the Running Aces Hotel.

The money that is collected will go to fund year-round training and athletic opportunities for those with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics does more than just allow its athletes to play sports, it also gives them opportunities for inclusion and helps them learn structure by being a member of a team.

This event over the last 20 years has raised over $320,000 dollars to support the Special Olympics.

If there are any truckers out there who would like to participate, registration will be held between 7am and 9am followed by the opening ceremonies. Trucks will start rolling at 10am.

Running Aces Hotel is on Running Aces Boulevard in Columbus Minnesota.
