Toys have changed a lot over the years, especially for those of us who are older, we’ve seen the evolution from when we had to make the noise for the toy ourselves to now, toys moving and talking on their own.

Over the years, children have spent many hours on the floor and in the dirt playing with Tonka Toys. Trucks, loaders and the like have been a favorite of boys and girls for a long time. And these toys are not excluded from how toys have evolved throughout time.

Huffy now makes Tonka trucks and they have placed a recall on one of their more popular products from the last few years. According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, the children’s ride on Tonka dump truck potentially could cause a problem that could leave children with burns.

What Has Led To This Recall?

These trucks were sold between June 2023 and March of this year at Target and Sam’s Club stores and their websites. There have been three reports made thus far that the controller on the truck overheats. In one case, the truck caught fire. Luckily, no children were injured in those incidents.

The trucks in question are the Tonka Dump Trucks, models 17362 and 17323. These trucks will have the word Tonka on the front and side and measure 45 inches long, 32 inches wide and 24 inches tall. The trucks also have a steering wheel, two seats, LED lights and a power dump bed.

What To Do If You Have One Of These Trucks

The company says that over 23,000 of these toys were sold before the recall was put into effect. If your child has one of these ride-on Tonka Dump Trucks, you are urged to stop using it immediately.

If you have one of these trucks at your house, contact Huffy directly and they will arrange to send a safe replacement truck so your child can continue to have hours of safe fun.
