2017 Will Deliver Total Solar Eclipse to U.S. (Up to 85% in MN)
'The Big One' is coming to the United States in 2017. A total solar eclipse will arrive on August 21st, but the total blackout will only be observed in a 75-mile wide swath across the middle of America. In Minnesota we'll still be treated to 80 to 85% of the sun blocked-- which is still pretty cool.
In St. Cloud we'll experience 82% of the solar eclipse, with the peak coming at 3:05 in the afternoon. Want to see the total eclipse? Looks like a road trip to Nebraska or Missouri will be your closest bets.
Busy that day? You're in luck. Total solar eclipses are scheduled to return to the U.S. in 2024 and 2045.
