Join me at 11 am Sunday January 11th for the Sunday Morning Country Classic Spotlight as we feature T.G. Sheppard.

After working his way through the record industry, T.G. Sheppard emerged in the mid 1970's as one of the leading country-pop singers bringing the music closer to a cosmopolitan sound of urban cowboy.  Early in his career he became close friends with Elvis Presley.  Elvis gave him his first tour bus and he even lived at Graceland for a while during their friendship.

In 1977 T.G. enjoyed his greatest success with fifteen Top Ten releases.  Last Cheater's Waltz is the title track from Sonny Throckmorton's 1978 album of the same title.  He released two songs -- Last Cheater's Waltz and Smooth Sailin' both of which T.G. covered in late 1979.  In late 1979, T.G. Sheppard covered both songs.

Last Cheater's Waltz Was released as a single and topped the country chart at #1.  Smooth Sailin' was recorded and reached #1 on the country chart in 1980.

Another favorite of mine is Loved'em Everyone, a song written by Phil Simpson and recorded by T.G.  It was released in March 1981 from the album of the same name.  This was his seventh #1 on the country chart.

He is married to singer/songwriter Kelly Lang and resides in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
