I invite you to join me on Palm Sunday, March 20th at 11 am for the Sunday Morning Country Classic Spotlight when we feature T.G. Sheppard.  You can find us at 98.1 FM Minnesota’s New Country, online and on your mobile device.

William Neal Browder -- known professionally as T.G. Sheppard -- was born on July 20, 1944 in Humbolt, Tennessee.  I met Sheppard about 10 years ago at Rollie's Rednecks and Longnecks Central Minnesota’s true Honky-Tonk on Highway 23 in Sauk Rapids, sometimes known as “Tinville.”  Sheppard has appeared several times at Rollie’s.  He interacts very well with his audience that comes to see him.

Sheppard has done it all, worked in record promotions, backup singer for other artists, he first recorded as Brian Stacy.  In 1974 he relaunched his career as T.G. Sheppard with the number one hit, “Devil in the Bottle.”  From 1974 till the early 1990s, he scored several number one hits, “Smooth Sailin’,” “I Loved ‘Em Everyone,” “Party Time” and his 1979 signature song “Last Cheater’s Waltz,” Sonny Throckmorton’s beautiful song.  That song stayed at number one on the country chart for two weeks at that position.

On a personal note, Sheppard is married to singer/songwriter Kelly Lang and calls Hendersonville, Tennessee home.  Now in his early 70’s he continues to tour and play concerts across the great USA.
