Edward Gavin Futch was born August 19, 1944 in Lafayette, Louisiana. Known professionally as Eddy Raven, he was one of eleven children.

Raven moved to Nashville in 1970, worked as a staff writer.  He wrote hit tunes for Connie Smith, Don Gibson, Jeanie C. Riley and many others.

Known for his Cajun-influenced country music, he charted more than 35 singles in his career including number one hit, “I Got Mexico” his signature song, “Shine Shine Shine,” “I Gonna Get You” and many more.   Six of his songs reached number one.

Raven is still alive in his early 70s still performs and tours.
