Eddy was born Edward Garvin Futch on August 19, 1944 in Lafayette, Louisiana.  He is best known for his Cajun influenced country music and has been a recording artist since 1962.

I Got Mexico was his first #1 hit on Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart in June of 1984 and spent a total of 13 weeks on the top 40 Country chart.  He co-wrote the song with Frank Myers, which is from the album I Could Use Another You.

Eddy charted several other number one hits including Shine, Shine, Shine, I'm Gonna  Get You, Joe Knows How to Live, In A Letter to You, Bayou Boys as well as several more Top Ten hits.

He is known as a great songwriter and has written songs recorded by Johnny Cash, Kenny Chesney, Faron Young, George Jones, Don Gibson, Connie Smith and the Oak Ridge Boys 1982 single, Thank God for Kids.  He has charted more than 35 singles in his career.

Eddy is still alive, and just celebrated his 70th birthday back in August.  According to his website he still performs on stage.
