ST. CLOUD -- About 14 teams will lace up their skates and hit the ice for the 6th Annual Granite City Pond Hockey Championships this weekend at Lake George.

Gary Hines is the Director of the Minnesota Youth Foundation. He says it's going to be a great weekend for hockey in Central Minnesota.

"A few days we are looking at forty degrees and getting nervous, but it's turned out nice. We couldn't ask for better weather," says Hines.

Hockey teams are made up of a variety of age levels.

Along with hockey games, spectators can enjoy an ice bar under a heated tent with food, beer and other beverages. Hines says they also have a new attraction this year called the Frozen Sauce Toss.

"It's basically a 4-hole golf course. It's free to anyone who wants to try it out, we will have equipment available and you don't need skates to play," says Hines.

The event kicks off Friday at 4:00 p.m. and will wrap up on Sunday afternoon.
