I know the Starbucks cups haven't been a solid red for a while now, but they seem to get a little more colorful every year.  Basic red and green is so last year.  Minnesota was just introduced to the new Starbucks holiday cups on November 2nd and dare I say...there's magenta in these cups!  Insert wide-eyed emoji here.

The Starbucks website calls them "bright and beautiful" with "holiday red and Starbucks green and a mood-boosting magenta, each one accented with sparkles."  So, I guess if the caffeine doesn't give you a boost, the magenta and the sparkles will!

Don't misunderstand, they're cute cups.  The names, if possible, may be even cuter.  There's Party Plaid.  I mean, who doesn't want to start their day with a party?  I think when your drink is ready, the barista should call out, "(insert name here) it's party time!"

Did you know that when the first Starbucks holiday cups came out back in 1997 the cups were not red?  Insert that eye-popping emoji again! Nope, they were more of a purple paisley-looking mix.  Hey wait a second, did Minnesota's own Purple One, the Prince of Badness have something to do with that? I'm going to choose to believe that...but there is nothing to back that up.

1999 was when the red cup was born and they stayed overwhelmingly red until the 2021 design that had a lilac color added to it.  Starbucks has been stirring up the color combinations ever since.

That brings us back to this year's new cups.  There are four new designs for the hot cups, one of which you saw above.  Also, there is one cold cup design. This year the Peppermint mocha is 21 years old if you can believe that.  Oh and there's a cup for that!  Presenting the Peppermint Swirl cup...

My second-favorite cup name in this years release is the Bauble Wrap.  Don't try to "pop" this cup!  That's bauble...not bubble.  See what they did there?

My Mom used to make all her own ribbons for all the Christmas packages.  They were beautiful, but I never understood where she found the time.  But she always did. So this one makes me think of her.  It's the Ribbon Spool.

Finally it's the cold drink cup.  It's called the Frosted Bauble.
