I’ll Be Reeling in this Weekend’s Minnesota Fishing Opener

Ladies & gentlemen, start you boat motors -- as the 2017 Minnesota Fishing Opener arrives today. Walleye, Northern, Bass, Crappie, Trout, Perch. Bring 'em all on. I will be heading up north to the cabin when I get off the air this morning. Part fishing, part tradition, part looking' forward to summer.

The 'Governor's Fish Opener' takes place today on the Mississippi River right here in St. Cloud. 'Pete's Fishing Opener' will be taking place at our family cabin in St. Louis County (pictured above).

This year the Minnesota DNR has created a nice 'Fish Minnesota' website that is a catch-all for all your Minnesota fishing info and questions.
