LITTLE FALLS - One of the most impressive annual events during the holiday season will be happening this Saturday at the State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.

The organization "Wreaths For the Fallen" will be placing the wreaths on the headstones.

Last year there were a little over 4,000 wreaths that were placed. And, this year we expect it to be right around 4,500.

Erik Sogge is the Cemetery Administrator for the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. He says it's a huge undertaking, but it's all made possible with the help of a lot of volunteers.

It actually is kind of surprising.  At 11 o'clock there's a brief ceremony at the beginning.  And I believe last year it took a little over a half hour to get all the wreaths out. We get a lot of volunteers that come out.

Volunteers from Camp Ripley, the Minnesota Patriot Guard, Minnesota Civil Air Patrol, VFW's, American Legions, and more help out. It is suggested that you arrive by 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

The ceremony starts at 11:00 a.m. Due to limited parking, carpooling is recommended. This has been an annual event since 2012.

"Wreaths For The Fallen" will also be placing wreaths at the new Veterans Cemetery in Preston this year.
