Winter Parking Regulations For St. Cloud: What You Need To Know

We are moving into November - as hard as that might be to believe. Doesn't it just seem like it was like 90 something degrees out? Oh, right, it was 90 degrees like 3 weeks ago. Crazy. Here we are - heading into November.

WINTER PARKING

With November rolling in, we also move into a time when you need to start paying attention to where you are parking on the street. Can you park overnight? Can you park on either side of the street? Where is it ok to park and where do I need to make sure that my car has been moved so it doesn't get towed, or worse, plowed in by the snowplow if it snows?

WHERE CAN I PARK

The City of St. Cloud has put out a handy chart so that you can make sure you are parked correctly throughout the winter. These restrictions are in effect from November 1 through April 1.

Seasonal Calendar Parking Also referred to as Odd/Even parking regulations In effect November 1st – April 1st each year

The regulations are in effect between 1:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. regardless of the amount of snowfall How it works: o Between 1-7 a.m. on ODD numbered days (1st, 3rd, 5th, etc.)

Park on the EVEN side of the street. o Between 1-7 a.m. on EVEN numbered days (2nd, 4th, 6th, etc.) Park on the ODD side of the street. EVEN side of the street = house number is even (ie. 102 Washington Mem Dr) ODD side of the street = house number is odd (ie. 103 Washington Mem Dr) EVEN days you park on the NORTH side of the streets & the WEST side of avenues ODD days you park on the SOUTH side of the streets & the EAST side of avenues

SCSU PARKING RULES

If you live around St. Cloud State University, there are different rules there too. But those rules are in effect all year round. You need to read the signs and obey those laws. Remember - no parking on the street from 1am to 7am. Sometimes that can be difficult. That's why when I was going to SCSU I got a bunch of parking tickets. Although they were a lot cheaper back in the day than they are now. But still.

Make sure to move your vehicle if it snows. If there is a snow emergency, you will need to move regardless of where you parked... generally. If you are in a parking lot, just pay attention to what is posted about clearing out that particular parking lot. You don't want to be that person that either gets towed away, or the person who has their car under a foot or more in the parking lot.
