Travis Ishikawa hit a game-winning, three-run homer off Michael Wacha in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Giants beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-3, in San Francisco on Thursday night to win Game 5 of the National League Championship Series and advance to the World Series for the third time in five years.

Last night turned out to be the final game of the World Series when the San Francisco Giants defeated the Detroit Tigers and took the title of World Series champs 2012. The San Francisco Giants took a 2 games to none series lead with a 2-0 win over Detroit in Game 2 of the World Series Thursday night. Brandon Crawford grounded into a double play to score the first round in the 7th inning and Hunter Pence drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the 8th inning for the Giants. Madison Bumgarner threw 7 shutout innings with 2 hits allowed to get the win. Doug Fister allowed 1 earned run in 6 innings to take the loss.

Barry Zito threw 5 2/3 innings with 1 earned run allowed to get the win and Justin Verlander allowed 6 hits and 5 earned runs in 4 innings to take the loss.
