ST. CLOUD (WJON News) -- A major road construction project in East St. Cloud will cause some traffic headaches again this summer.

The city of St. Cloud will be making improvements to Lincoln Avenue.

The project has two portions to it. From 7th Street Southeast to 1st Street Southeast, the project will be a complete reconstruction...

A full reconstruction with everything being done (including) a full-depth replacement of asphalt and sidewalk improvements will be done. And then north of 1st Street going north to the city limits, that's just going to be a mill and overlay in that location. We're going to be doing some reconfiguration of the intersection there, narrowing the roadway a little bit to allow for those sidewalks to be put in.

Public Services Director Tracy Hodel says the bids are expected to be awarded in mid-May, with construction lasting through late fall.

This year will be year two of the large Metro Force Main project. The system carries the wastewater from all of the area cities to the wastewater treatment plant near the I-94 Business Park.

Hodel says the project is replacing three miles of pipe installed in the early 1970s with a new 42-inch force main pipe. She says the work has been completed to south of River Bluffs Regional Park and Fire Station 5...

So all of that work is done. Another great thing we're going to be working on right away in the spring here is getting that Beaver Island Trail repaved. We're going to be doing some tree planting out there, some native planting where we did put the pipe in so far. But there's quite a bit yet to put in. And they've some work to do at the treatment facility where that connection's gonna be and then at the main lift station as well. But that project should be done by the end of this year.

Year four of the Pantown neighborhood improvements will be completed this year, and a total of eight miles of various resurfacing projects around the city will also be completed this summer.
